Acne

A Dermatologist is the only medical practitioner permitted to prescribe Isotretinoin (Roaccutane), the most effective treatment for acne. The management of acne does not end with Roaccutane however and many other interventions can help patients with acne.

Dr Mulholland  has many years experience treating acne and always endeavours to provide treatment suited to an individuals needs. 

Skin cancer screening and treatment

Routine skin checks for skin cancers are much of what we do. Some patients can not come often enough and others require a look over every few years. Living in Queensland, skin cancer is an issue affecting many of us. A skin check is painless, maybe a bit embarrassing but can potentially save you from devastating consequences. Melanoma and Non-Melanoma skin cancers (BCC’s, SCC’s and IEC’s) are very common and easily treated if found early.

The treatment of common skin cancers can usually be done here. We offer both surgical and some non-surgical treatments.

Diseases of Hair and Nails

There are many conditions that can lead to abnormalities of hair and nails. These can be trivial and self limiting to severe and life threatening. Hair, nails and even some oral conditions are within our area of speciality.

Male and Female genital Dermatology

This can be seen as an area of sub-speciality. Not all dermatologists are happy seeing and treating skin disease in these areas. Dr Mulholland has a special interest in treating genital dermatology and is happy to receive referrals for male and female patients with problems in this sensitive area.

Allergy Patch Testing

Allergy to substances we come in contact with can lead to dermatitis. This can happen via work or the home, sometimes it is hard to tell. An allergy patch test can often help sort out causes of chronic dermatitis that has an external cause. Patients requiring special or extended series of allergens can also be tested by us.

Paediatric Dermatology

While all dermatologists are trained in this area not all wish to see children. Dr Mulholland has always seen children as part of his practice. He is more happy to see any children with any skin disease.

Cosmetic Dermatology

With many years of experience in the use of both fillers and muscle relaxing injections Dr Mulholland can help patients achieve the look they are after. Our Nurse Practitioner Monica is also trained in the use of these treatments and chemical peels, extractions and cosmetic skin care advice.

Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Dr Mulholland is registered with Medicare as a practitioner able to use ‘Botox’ in this condition. Patients pay a very modest fee (approximately $200 out of pocket) for this service and Medicare supplies the drug. It can make a massive difference to patients suffering from this difficult condition. If you have a problem with excessive sweating, we can help.

Nurse Practitioner Wound Care

Our staff Nurse Practitioner Monica Stankiewicz is a specialist in wound management. From acute to chronic, ulcers to blisters, venous stasis to failed surgical sites; she has years of training in how to heal all manner of wounds as quickly as possible. Then keeping them healed. This is a highly specialised area and Monica is one of a few Nurse Practitioners in this field.

Monica works independently and mostly sees patients on her own, if needed she may involve one of our Dermatologists in treating these problems.
